Vedic Altars are made according to the ancient tradition of Vaastu. Vaastu, like Classical Feng Shui, is the art and science of creating
sacred space and harmonizing your environment. The laws of Vaastu are based on sound scientific and mathematical principles.
Every home should be a refuge from the world - a place you can take shelter, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually as well.
Unfortunately, most homes are just as hectic and chaotic as the places we work. It is important, therefore, to make the effort to create a
least one place in your home that you can call sacred. A place that is reserved only for positive thought, positive vibration and which is
kept pure at all times. Such a sacred space in your home is complete when you have an actual focal point - an object of meditation. An alter
designed according to the ancient Vedic principles of Vaastu is the perfect "house" for this object of meditation.
Whether you use a deity, as in the Vedic tradition; religious symbolism, or something personal, a Vedic Altar is the perfect compliment to
your sacred space.
To prepare a sacred space in your home, some things need to be done:
- The room should only be used for meditation, reading and music
that is stimulating to the chakras and uplifting to the spirit.
- The room should be kept clean as possible at all times.
- Regularly burn incense
- Recite sacred prayers, or mantras to purify the energy in the room
- If possible, have a qualified priest or Brahman to perform a purificatory ceremony.
